Persistence is the most important part of leadership and really life in general. You have to keep moving forward no matter what. There is no such thing as quit. There is no such thing as fail. Keep moving forward no matter how hard it gets. Persistence is what separates the great leader from everyone else. Most people hit walls from time to time and they give up and accept that reality as truth. Take the time to write down your goals so that when you hit the wall that will be in your way eventually you can remember what you are working towards.
The wall that you are going to hit the most is that of “I just feel like I am spinning my wheels. I can’t seem to get traction.” This wall is closely related to boredom. It may feel like you aren’t going anywhere but that is when persistence is key. Greatness lies on the other side of the lake, but if you only swim halfway and give up you won’t be great. You will make it to the same place as everyone else. They gave up at that point. You have to be strong enough to keep going. That is what makes great leaders.
Why do you want it? Why do you do what you do? Why do you want to be successful? These are questions that you should ask yourself before you hit that wall where persistence kicks in so you are not scrambling for an answer in crisis. Keep your Why in the front of your mind, it will help you push through. You can do it. Quit is not an option.
