Position does not make you a leader

Being a leader is more than the position ¬†you hold. Many people hold positions of power, but are they using that position to promote the people around them or are they just telling people what to do? A leader’s job is to help everyone else get ahead which in turn promotes the cause that you all are working towards.

“If you invest in people, they will never be the same again. And neither will you. It is impossible to help others without helping yourself.” -John Maxwell, The 5 Levels of Leadership

A servant leader is a leader who believes that if they make the job of the people they lead easier the whole organization will benefit. Leaders should be interested in the lives of their people. They know how each individual operates as well as how much attention in their day to day task they need. To be a leader you have to have actually care about people and their well being.

Are you a leader? Have you been promoting the people around you? Have you been pouring your knowledge into the people around you? If not, try it. See what happens when you care about the people you lead. It is not easy in the beginning to change your leadership style, but in the long run it is worth it. #ConquerLeadership
